What is ChatGPT, and How Can You Use it?
ChatGPT is a chatbot developed by OpenAI to mimic human responses to your queries. Both free and premium subscription plans are now available.

What is ChatGPT: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now removing labor-intensive tasks in almost every technical field. The latest chatbot by OpenAI, a research institute dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence, is considered by many the next AI-based Google when it comes to answering your queries.
Meet the ChatGPT, a long-form question-answering chatbot called ChatGPT that answers complex questions conversationally. Many users are amazed at its ability to provide human-quality responses, inspiring the feeling that it may eventually have the power to disrupt how humans interact with computers and change how information is retrieved.

What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a chatbot that answers your question in the best possible human way. For example, when asked which is better? Javascript or Python. The answer was:
“It’s difficult to say which is “better” between JavaScript and Python, as both are popular and widely used programming languages with unique strengths and capabilities. Here are a few differences between the two languages:
- JavaScript is a high-level, dynamically-typed language primarily used for building web applications and adding interactivity to websites. It is supported by all modern web browsers, which makes it easy to use on the front end.
- Python is a high-level, dynamically-typed language widely used for various purposes, including web development, scientific computing, data analysis, and machine learning. It is known for its simplicity, readability, and versatility.
Ultimately, the choice between JavaScript and Python will depend on your specific needs and goals. If you’re interested in building web applications or adding interactivity to websites, JavaScript might be the better choice. Python might be a better fit if you’re interested in data analysis, machine learning, or scientific computing. It’s also worth noting that you can use both languages in conjunction with each other, as many web applications use a combination of front-end JavaScript and back-end Python code.”
This is the explanation we can expect from a programming pundit.
What is ChatGPT: OpenAI launched the research release of ChatGPT on November 30, 2022, to get users’ feedback and learn about its strengths and weaknesses. It is built on top of OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 family of large language models. It is fine-tuned with both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques. It is trained using Azure AI supercomputing infrastructure developed by the collaboration of OpanAI and Microsoft.
According to the developer, the dialogue format makes it possible for ChatGPT to answer follow-up questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests.
During testing, the ChatGPT’s responses were awfully human. When asked who are you? It gave the following answer:
“I am Assistant, a large language model trained by OpenAI. My primary function is to assist users in generating human-like text based on the prompts given to me. I am not a real person, but rather a program designed to simulate conversation and answer questions to the best of my ability. Is there something specific you would like to know or a question I can help with?”
ChatGPT is trained using Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), an algorithm developed by OpenAI in collaboration with DeepMind. It uses large language models (LLMs) to predict the next word.
What sets ChatGPT apart is that it was specifically trained to understand the human intent in a question and provide helpful, truthful, and harmless answers. This allows ChatGPT to challenge certain questions and discard parts of the question that don’t make sense.
Without going into the technical details, let’s learn how to use ChatGPT.
How to use ChatGPT
Currently, ChatGPT is in research release and free to use. Go to https://chat.openai.com/chat. The opened page will ask you to create an OpenAI account. Create the account by following simple instructions. You are all set to use ChatGPT. The interface is shown in the following image.
Type your query in the dialogue box at the bottom and hit enter. Check the responses. Isn’t it amazing?
Limitations of ChatGPT
Although ChatGPT can answer the most complex question possible, such as finding errors in a code or quantum-level calculations, it has some limitations. It has limited knowledge of the world and events that happened after 2021. For example, when asked how the FTX cryptocurrency exchange collapsed? It replied:
“I am not aware of any collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange. As a language model, I do not have access to real-time information about current events and cannot provide up-to-date information on the status or events related to specific companies or organizations. It is important to do your own research and due diligence before making any financial decisions, including investing in cryptocurrency or using a cryptocurrency exchange.”
According to the developer, it is best designed to provide a neutral response; however, it may occasionally generate a harmful and biased response. Furthermore, it creates different responses just by rephrasing the same question.
The quality of the answers depends on the quality of the questions. Detailed and precise queries produce better solutions.
What are People Saying About ChatGPT?
Amazed by the quality of the answers, many believe language models like ChatGPT will replace the traditional web search we do today on Google or Bing. Although it is too early to say, it is not far-fetched that companies like OpenAI, Google, or Microsoft would one day replace traditional search with an AI chatbot.

However, at the moment, we can envision hybrid search engines using both AI chatbots and traditional search. This is already happening as Microsoft has announced its plans to integrate ChatGPT into its Bing search engine by March 2023.
ChatGPT Premium Subscription: ChatGPT Plus for $20/Month
ChatGPT’s premium subscription plan is now available for $20/month, which offers faster response speed, and priority access to new features and is available even when demand is very high. The free plan is not always available, especially during peek times.
